Lazio must act swiftly and decisively if they still intend to sign Alex Toth, who appears ever closer to joining Bournemouth.

Lazio Searching for Matteo Guendouzi’s Replacement

The Biancocelesti have been very active on the market this month. They have already signed a left-footed midfielder in the shape of Kenneth Taylor, but they still need a right-footed box-to-box midfielder to fill in for Matteo Guendouzi, who joined Fenerbahce last week.

Alex Toth is the First Name on Lazio’s Shortlist

Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani identified Toth as the primary target for the role, and even managed to find an agreement with the player’s entourage on personal terms. However, the Italian capital side couldn’t close a deal with the 20-year-old’s current employers, Ferencvaros, which left the door open for Bournemouth to pounce on the situation.

Bournemouth Outbid Lazio for Toth

According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Lazio offered the Hungarian giants a fixed transfer fee of €6 million plus €4 million. On the other hand, the Premier League club offered a higher fixed fee, taking the total north of €10 million.

The source adds that Toth has accepted both destinations, so it’s now down to Ferencvaros to decide, and they will ultimately choose the higher bid, which at this stage appears to be Bournemouth’s.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Matteo Petrucci (via AllRoundLazio) is reporting different figures, claiming that Lazio made a bid worth €10 million plus add-ons, but he maintains that the Cherries have made a more lucrative offer.

Giovanni Fabbian the Alternative

Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Biancocelesti will launch an attempt to overtake the English side in the coming hours or instead raise the white flag and resort to other profiles. Many sources believe that the next man on Fabiani’s shortlist is young Bologna midfielder Giovanni Fabbian, who could become the target of Lazio’s next onslaught.

  1. The patience to Lotito of every Lazio supporter is also running out. Even third tier teams in EPL can rob Lazio’s talented players, and Lotito treats it as a capital gain and never invest the same amount to strengthen the team, how can Lazio compete with other ambitious europe teams.
