Lazio and Bournemouth are reportedly on the verge of reaching a full accord for the transfer of Christos Mandas, having already defined a formula.

Christos Mandas Heading out of Lazio

The goalkeeper has been placed on the transfer list after being relegated to the bench at the orders of Maurizio Sarri, who restored Ivan Provedel as the ultimate first choice in goal. Luckily for the 24-year-old, he has several suitors on the market. But while Juventus, Genoa and Torino didn’t follow up on their interest with a concrete offer, Bournemouth have taken the initiative.

Mandas Set to Join Bournemouth on Loan with Option to Buy

After challenging one another for Alex Toth’s signatures (with the English club prevailing), the Biancocelesti and the Cherries are now working together to finalize Mandas’ move. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Bournemouth have already submitted an official offer, proposing a loan move until the end of the season with an option to buy for €20 million.

The source claims that Lazio is now open to this formula. Tempted by the considerable figures, Claudio Lotio and Angelo Fabiani could waive their initial request of adding an obligation to buy clause.

Why Lazio Are Open to a Loan Move

A permanent transfer would represent a significant capital gain for the Aquile, who signed the Greek international for just over €1 million in the summer of 2023. Moreover, Mandas is tied to Lazio with a contract running until June 2029, so they would still have many other opportunities to cash in on the shot-stopper if Bournemouth opt against keeping him beyond the current campaign.

  1. At the moment I fail to see the sense in this move. Bournemouth already have Petrovic in goal so unless he’s going straight into the No. 1 role, he’s swapping one bench for another. With no obligation to buy, in the summer, everyone will be back to where they are now with no profit or experience gained.
