Lazio are keen to sign young Hellas Verona forward Giovane, but they have been warned about Napoli, who could soon make their move.

The Background

The 22-year-old is a versatile attacker capable of playing anywhere in the final third. The Brazilian joined the Gialloblu last summer, and has already cemented himself as one of the best revelations of the Serie A campaign following his exploits at the Bentegodi, which include a wonderful goal against Inter Milan

The Biancocelesti have identified Giovane as the right profile to bolster Maurizio Sarri’s ranks. The manager has reportedly given the green light for the move. There have been talks regarding a potential swap deal that would see Reda Belahyane returning to Hellas Verona.

Lazio Hellbent on Signing Giovane

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Lazio are keen to move forward in their plans for the Brazilian striker, regardless of whether the Moroccan midfielder is included or not. The transfer market expert reveals that the negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing over the past three days, and he expects more interesting developments by Friday.

Lazio Face Napoli Competition for Giovane

Nevertheless, Pedullà reveals that Napoli are still lurking in the shadows. The reigning Italian champions have been monitoring Giovane since November, and they have recently run a new enquiry, seeking further information. However, the Partenopei are forced to operate on zero-cost parameters in January, which will limit their ability to manoeuvre.

Napoli Impeded by Transfer Restrictions

Napoli are expected to send Noa Lang to Galatasaray on loan with an option to buy, so they would only be able to sign Giovane on similar terms. Therefore, Pedullà still believes that Lazio have the upper hand in the race, but they must act swiftly and decisively to avoid a late blow.
