Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri might end up losing his two main centre-backs, as AC Milan have reportedly launched an onslaught for Mario Gila.

Alessio Romagnoli Will Leave Lazio in the Coming Days

The Biancocelesti are preparing to part ways with Alessio Romagnoli, who has already communicated his desire to leave to club president Claudio Lotito in a rather brusque fashion. He is expected to join Roberto Mancini’s Al-Sadd, who have offered him a lucrative three-year deal worth €18 million in total. His last hurrah in a Lazio shirt will take place at the Via del Mare on Saturday.

While the 31-year-old’s departure will be a major blow for Sarri, it might not be the last one in the January transfer market.

AC Milan Open Talks for Mario Gila with Lazio

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani held a meeting with Lotito ahead of Lazio’s defeat to Como. The two men discussed Gila’s potential transfer. Furlani is personally leading the charge because the relationship between the Lazio patron and Milan sporting director Igli Tare has recently strained, despite working together for 15 years.

Lazio & Milan Still Separated by €5 Million

The source reveals that the Italian capital side has set its asking price at €16 million for the Barcelona native, whose contract will expire in June 2027. However, the San Siro outfit has only offered €11 million, so there’s still a significant gap to bridge. It should be noted that half of the transfer fee will be collected by Gila’s former employers, Real Madrid, due to a 50% sell-on fee.

The 25-year-old has been playing his football at Lazio since making the move from Los Blancos in the summer of 2022. He initially struggled for playing time, but has now cemented himself as one of the finest centre-backs in Serie A.

  1. Oh NO! What a blow! Would hate to see them leave. More valuable players going out. Who’s next, Provedel? Are we testifying a time when all the proper players are being cashed in? Is Lazio being forced to reboot and rejuvenate completely? Is the team becoming mere a player development farm where players are being bought cheaper and then sold off after they’ve established themselves? Ok, this is part of the usual football business, but somehow this economic side just seems to override everything else in Lazio. Even club identity and the appreciation of players, but also the fans’ voices.

  2. What kind of management that is thinking about a team, lose 2 outstanding center backs and even one to thier rival team… yeah trust LOTITO to FUCK this up… if this cocksucker is not made to sell the club trust me lazio would definitely be relegated to division 1

  3. These players had Two concecutive season in 7th place and you think they are unreplaceable?

I am fully with Lotito with this but not selling the without going straight to his pockets. Of course Lotito out, but I cant see why we are losing such great talents when they are not able to get Lazio to winning days 🙂

    1. To be honest we aren’t only talking about the last two years. When have you seen Lotito truly invest? He was always about sustainability blabla whilst selling players in the region of 40 milion, never reinvested more than 20 in a player. Why can Atalanta or Fiorentina do more than the bigger Lazio? Because we have a cheap ass president in the trashbag lotito
