Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri is expected to make three changes to the starting lineup that will take the pitch against Genoa.

The Background

Amid all the turmoil caused by the transfer market, the rift between the manager and the hierarchy, and the ongoing fan protest, the Biancocelesti will host the Grifone at the Stadio Olimpico, which will be deserted by the supporters.

Maurizio Sarri to Make Some Tweaks Ahead of Lazio vs Genoa

The unpleasant atmosphere might hamper the team’s chances of securing a win, but anything less than three points could effectively end the club’s remaining hopes of challenging for a European spot. So how will the team line up on Friday evening?

Oliver Provstgaard to Fill in for Alessio Romagnoli

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sarri will replace the rebelling Alessio Romagnoli with Oliver Provstgaard. The former AC Milan captain is refusing to train as he continues to push for a transfer to Al-Sadd. While it remains to be seen if his stance will pay dividends, the left-footed Dane is considered a natural understudy. He will join Mario Gila, Adam Marusic, and Luca Pellegrini at the back.

Danilo Cataldi Back from Suspension

The second change will ensue in the middle of the park, with Danilo Cataldi reclaiming his starting spot after serving a one-match ban against Lecce. The Lazio youth product will operate as a deep-lying playmaker, since Nicolo Rovella remains short on fitness. Toma Basic and Kenneth Taylor are the favorites for the box-to-box roles, while Matias Vecino constitutes an alternative option.

Gustav Isaksen Back in the First XI

Finally, Gustav Isaksen is expected to usurp Matteo Cancellieri in the pecking order and start on the right side of the attacking trident, while Mattia Zaccagni remains a lock on the left. Finally, the lineup could witness a fourth change, with new signings Petar Ratkov and Daniel Maldini vying for the striker role at Boulaye Dia’s expense.

Lazio & Genoa Probable Lineups

Lazio Probable XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Provstgaard, Pellegrini; Taylor, Cataldi, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni.

Genoa Probable XI (3-5-2): Leali; Marcandalli, Otoa, Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Malinovskyi, Frendrup, Ellertsson, Martin; Vitinha, Colombo.
