Lazio Form Guide: Recent Results & Table Position

In their most recent outing, the Aquile earned a victory over Sassuolo thanks to Adam Marusic’s last-gasp winner. But prior to that contest, they had endured a four-match winless run that saw them settle for draws against Juventus and Cagliari, and suffer defeats to Atalanta and Torino.

The Biancocelesti will enter the 29th round of the season in 10th place, and they’ll be hoping to overtake Sassuolo and Bologna. However, this won’t be enough to crack into the European zone, so their only viable path to UEFA competitions goes through the Coppa Italia.

AC Milan Form Guide: Recent Results & Table Position

While many feel that the title race has already been sealed, the Rossoneri maintained a glimmer of hope by reducing the gap with the arch-rivals Inter Milan to seven points after upsetting them in the Derby della Madonnina thanks to Pervis Estupinan’s solitary strike.

The runners-up are currently riding a two-match winning streak, having beaten Cremonese in the previous week. However, Max Allegri’s side has been far from consistent over the past few months. They had suffered a shocking home defeat to Parma a couple of rounds ago, and they needed a late winner from Luka Modric to put down the struggling Pisa.

Lazio vs AC Milan: Match Insights

  • Previous fixtures this season: Milan won the reverse fixture at San Siro when Lazio were controversially denied a last-minute spot kick. The Aquile responded by eliminating the Diavolo from the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
  • Milan unbeaten on the road: The Rossoneri have yet to suffer a Serie A defeat away from home this season. They won nine times on the road and drew five. Their only away defeat this campaign across all competitions was against Lazio in the domestic cup.
  • Goals guaranteed: Lazio and Milan haven’t played out a goalless draw in their last 17 meetings.

Expected Starting Lineups

Lazio (4-3-3): Motta; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Tavares; Dele-Bashiru, Patric, Taylor; Isaksen, Maldini, Zaccagni. Coach: Sarri.

AC Milan (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Ricci, Estupinan; Leao, Pulisic

Prediction: Lazio 2-2 Milan

After winning the Derb della Madonnina, Milan will be looking to ride the momentum and continue to pile the pressure on Inter. However, the Rossoneri tend to drop points when Adrien Rabiot is unavailable. The Frenchman will be serving a one-match ban this weekend.

With the Lazio fans returning to the stadium for ‘one last act of love’, Maurizio Sarri’s men will be determined to put on a good show, so this should be an entertaining affair that could go either way, and might end up with the two sides sharing the spoils.

  1. We need to not make silly mistakes, it’s already enough pressure on Motta and will be exponentially bigger than against Sassuolo because it will be a packed Olimpico.

I do believe Milan are not as good as people say, they just sort of get results and only played once a week for most of the season. Without Rabiot they are even less good, so, as long as we don’t give them ridiculous chances, I think we will be in the game.

The question is can Zaccagni finally show something? what Isakksen is turning up tomorrow? Can Maldini surprise his former employers by putting on a show with at least a 7 out of 10? and is Patric up for it? If there will be positive answers to these, I think we could bring home the 3 pts.
