The list of clubs interested in Mario Gila is growing with each passing day, as Aston Villa becomes the latest club tipped to make a move for the Lazio defender.

The 25-year-old has been in exceptional form over the past few weeks, putting on spectacular displays in the victories over Sassuolo and AC Milan, who happen to be one of his staunchest admirers. However, the Rossoneri have some company in the race.

Lazio Defender Mario Gila Attracting Interest from All Over Europe

Earlier this week, it was reported that Inter Milan are ahead of their neighbors, having made some progress in their talks with the player’s agent, Alejandro Camano. Nevertheless, if Lazio are forced to sell Gila before his contract expires in 2027, they would rather send him abroad rather than strengthen a local rival.

This is certainly music to the ears of the Spaniard’s Premier League suitors. While Bournemouth’s interest has already been documented, Defensa Central reveals Aston Villa are also preparing an onslaught for the wantaway defender.

Aston Villa Ready to Spend €30m for Gila?

The Spanish portal claims that the Villans are willing to splash €30 million to secure the player’s services. It should be noted that 50% of the figure would head to Gila’s former club, Real Madrid, who retained a sell-on fee when they sold him to Lazio in 2022.

Nevertheless, this would be a shrewd deal for Claudio Lotito, considering that the centre-back’s contract will expire next year, and that the parties are nowhere near finding an agreement for a renewal.

Chelsea, Spurs & Everton Also Tracking Gila

In addition to Aston Villa, the source mentions long-standing interest from Chelsea in Gila, in addition to Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. The player had also been linked with a potential return to Spain through the gates of Atletico Madrid, so it remains to be seen who will emerge in what is turning out to be a blockbuster race for one of Lazio’s most prized assets.

  1. Funny how it feels like lazio dnt deserve any good player.. fringes, bench warmers, surpluses, old free agents, out of form players and when they pick up form BOOM we sell them then its back to square Zero.. sometimes I honestly think lotito is playing real LIFE carrier mode with our dear CLUB

    1. So I never trust the motherfucker will truly invest in Lazio, what he is doing is to take advantage of Lazio and Laziale. This asshole must be burnt in the hell, I don’t give a shit that he is an Italian and Lazio should be owned by Italian owner, bla bla bla. Just bullshit.

  2. I really doubt that Gila has what it takes to play in Premier League. Not because he is not good enough, but the style of football it’s just different. Anyway, ~40 mios might be a good piece of business, the problem is that you don’t have any option to replace him immediately.
Remember the rumor with us tracking Wout Faes? Faes failed in Premier League, Let’s dig the lower leagues, maybe we can find another Provstgard, who is at least decent and developing.

      1. If we squize Chelsea by the balls we can get 35 mio pounds, having in mind what problems they have in defence. Also, Cucurella can recommend Gila, it’s important to play our cards with wisdom.
