Lazio are reportedly considering a move for Heidenheim right-back Omar Traore, who is currently running on an expiring contract.
Lazio Active on Free Agents Market
The Biancocelesti will be looking to renovate their backline in the summer, as several players are heading towards the exit door, either due to their advanced age and declining form, or their complicated contract situation.
Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani has been looking to fill the vacancies through free transfers. He has already secured the services of Villarreal left-back Alfonso Pedraza, who signed a pre-contract agreement, while he continues to negotiate with Union Berlin centre-back Diogo Leite.
Lazio Add Omar Traore to Summer Shortlist
According to Sky Sport Germany (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Italian capital side is tracking another out-of-contract Bundesliga player in Omar Traore. The 28-year-old is a German right-back of Togolese origins.
The Osnabrück native began his career at his hometown club. After various experiences in the lower divisions of German football, he signed for Heidenheim in January and established himself as a staple at the club. This season, he has made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga thus far, providing two assists.
Valencia & Union Berlin Join Lazio in the Race for Traore
As the source explains, Traore isn’t expected to sign a new contract with his current employers, so he should become a free agent at the end of the season. In addition to Lazio, the full-back is also wanted at Valencia, while Union Berlin are offering him the opportunity to extend his stay in the Bundesliga.
What Will Lazio with Their Three Right-Backs
Lazio will part ways with at least one of their three current right-backs, as Elseid Hysaj’s contract won’t be renewed. On the contrary, Adam Marusic penned a new deal, so he’ll linger at Formello beyond the current campaign, while Manuel Lazzari’s fate remains uncertain.

As a third right-back, why not? But he’s certainly not a standout choice, especially since Lazarri hardly ever plays.
Well, I am certainly not a fan of an idea that now we bring more old non-Italians to the league. Rather scout for young prospects from Serie B/C a give them the opportunity. Foreigner should be option only when there is no good Italian for that position. We are one of those few top tier clubs who can regularly field 4-5 Italians in starting eleven. Let’s not mess it up.
@Laziale. 100% Agree.
This is a very strange player to add to the shortlist, unless Lazio’s plan is to get rid of Nuno or Lazzari. He plays similarly to both, but is an obvious downgrade than both of them.
Hopefully this is nothing more than a rumour
lol!
