Como are willing to accommodate Luca Pellegrini, who now finds himself surplus to requirements at Lazio.
Alfonso Pedraza Set to Join Lazio
The Biancocelesti have signed a new full-back in Alfonso Pedraza, who will join the club as a free agent after seeing out his contract with Villarreal. The 29-year-old had put pen to paper in January. Therefore, the Italian capital side currently has an excess of options for the left-back spot.
Luca Pellegrini on His Out of Lazio
Incoming Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso won’t need more than two players for this role, especially with the club failing to qualify for any European competition next season. According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the former Italy manager will most likely have Pedraza and Nuno Tavares at his disposal, leaving Pellegrini as the odd man out.
Pellegrini Attracts Interest From Como
The good news for the 27-year-old is that he still has a suitor in Como, who have recently parted ways with Alberto Mereno, so they’re looking for a new left-back to cover for Alex Valle. The Lariani certainly represent an exciting option for the Roman player, as Cesc Fabregas’ men are preparing to participate in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
Pellegrini’s Background & Season Stats
Pellegrini is a Roma youth product who had various experiences at the likes of Juventus, Genoa, Cagliari, and Eintracht Frankfurt, before realizing his dream by joining his boyhood club, Lazio, in January 2023.
However, the full-back has mostly been a back-up during his three-and-a-half seasons with the Aquile. This season, he made 26 appearances in all competitions and scored a memorable strike in the 3-3 draw against Udinese.
Lazio Eager to Get Rid of Pellegrini’s Salary
Pellegrini’s expected departure has also been confirmed by Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Petrucci (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), citing his relatively high salary as another factor behind the club’s desire to sell him. The Lazio insider said the following during his appearance on Radio Laziale:
Pellegrini is currently the likely departure. He’s highly paid, and with Pedraza and Nuno Tavares, he won’t find any space. Someone has to leave .
