Lazio are reportedly eyeing a move for Cagliari striker Sebastiano Esposito, as they look to enhance their attacking ranks.

Lazio Seeking Solution for Attacking Woes

This season, no Biancocelesti player was able to surpass the five-goal threshold across all competitions, with Tijjani Noslin, Pedro, and Gustav Isaksen sharing the top spot. Therefore, Gennaro Gattuso is expecting the arrival of at least one new forward capable of adding firepower upfront.

Lazio Pursuing Cagliari Striker Sebastiano Esposito

According to Il Tempo (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani has identified Esposito as the top target. However, the newspaper believes Lazio can only afford him if they decide to waive their option to buy Daniel Maldini from Atalanta for €13 million, or sell either Tijjani Noslin or Boulaye Dia.

The 23-year-old rose through the ranks of Inter Milan alongside his two brothers. His older sibling, Salvatore, is a midfielder who currently plays for Sampdoria in Serie B, while his young brother, Francesco Pio, is the most famous of the trio, especially following his breakout season with the Nerazzurri.

Esposito’s Playing Style & Stats

While he isn’t as physically imposing as Pio, Sebastiano is a versatile attacker who combines dribbling skills with clinical finishing. He is capable of playing almost anywhere in the final third. After making his Serie A debut under then-Inter boss Antonio Conte in 2019, Esposito was sent on a series of loan spells, representing SPAL, Venezia, Basel, Anderlecht, Bari, Sampdoria, and Empoli.

Last summer, Esposito joined Cagliari on loan with an obligation to buy. The striker played a crucial role in the Isolani’s successful bid to avoid relegation, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

Inter Milan Would Profit From Esposito’s Sale

The 23-year-old will now complete a permanent switch to the Sardinian club for €4 million while Inter will retain a 40% sell-on fee in case of a future resale. It remains to be seen if Cagliari will decide to immediately cash in on the forward. In addition to Lazio, the source mentions interest from Como and Torino.

  1. I would keep Maldini and sign Esposito. Maybe gebybcan work off each other. Sell the other 2. Forget the ,, 4 3 3

    1. I don’t disagree. I think Maldini would be effective on the outside with isolated one on ones. He’s too soft to be a target man. But the price is hefty.

    2. I don’t understand Dia’s situation. His contract should be expired. Why is he still on the books?

If Lazio land Esposito, then Noslin should be loaned out. Lazio paid 16m for him and it’d be nice to recoup some of that value.

Regardless, some names need to be moved. Too many under performers on the books. If Gattuso plays a 4-3-3, that leaves Cancellieri, Zaccagni, Noslin, Dia (?), Isaksen, Ratkov, and Maldini (?). 7 attackers with less than 20 goals combined between them… awful. Can’t have your attacking trident average less than 3 goals.

  2. I still belive that Noslin have 1-2 gears left in him. He is quick, good technice and have an eye for goal. I used to watch him in Verona before and he was far better then he have shown yet. And i saw him shoot rockets from outside the box, but then he was a player with confident. If Gattuso find the right position, give him chance and he will be like a new signing.

I know not many agree, but i belive in you Noslin!!!
