Lazio and Inter Milan have found a breakthrough that should see Ivan Provedel join the reigning Italian champions.
Ivan Provedel Set to Leave Lazio After Four Years
The 32-year-old has been at Lazio since 2022, but has now lost his biggest sponsor at the club, as Maurizio Sarri has left the club to join Atalanta. The Aquile’s new head coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has already identified Christos Mandas as his first choice between the sticks, with Edoardo Motta as his understudy, leaving Provedel as the odd man out.
Inter Milan Have Seized the Opportunity
Luckily for the Fruilian keeper, he found himself an admirer in Cristian Chivu, who asked Inter to sign him as a replacement for Yann Sommer. The Nerazzurri have promoted Josep Martinez to the No.1 role, but they would like to pair him with an experienced profile.
Inter Milan & Lazio Have an Agreement on Provedel Transfer
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the two clubs are on the cusp of reaching a final agreement on the transfer fee. Lazio initially sought €4-5 million, while Inter were only offering €2-2.5 million. In the end, the two parties settled on €3 million.
The transfer market expert believes the deal will reach the finish line sooner rather than later. The former Spezia shot-stopper already has an agreement with Inter on personal terms. He will sign a three-year contract and will earn €1.5 million per season in addition to bonuses.
Provedel Achieves Dream Move
Provedel’s agent, Gianni Riva, also confirmed the imminent transfer (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), but insists that his client will not settle for a backup role.
We’re very close; we’ve been working in the right direction. I hope this transfer can be finalized soon. Provedel has been a lifelong Inter fan, and for him it’s the crowining moment of his career.
He’ll come here to play his cards, and we’ll see. We’re confident. He’s had a very long journey, and now the right time has come. I have a good feeling. Contact with Chivu? I don’t think so. There’s still not much time left, but we’re very confident.

This is okay. Lazio needed a minimum of 3m to reach net-zero before the 30th.
If they can sell Gila and 1 of the many 2027 expiring contracts before the 30th, then the 20m deficit should be covered.
Should have sold Mandas make the money you need to start the transfer window right. Motta will take over the starting position anyway
I don’t disagree with you, but I also see what Lazio’s trying to accomplish, which I also don’t disagree with.
Provedel has 7.5m remaining on his contract, and he expires in 2027. Letting him walk for free wouldn’t have been wise. This nets Lazio 10.5m between wages and transfer fees for this season.
Mandas is hungry from playing time and motivated to prove himself. He’s signed until 2029 for 2m in total wages, and arguably as good as Provedel, at 8 years younger. The 15m offer from Bournemouth is low as his ceiling will be much higher, especially if he performs well as a starting keeper. If he’s getting offers as a back-up keeper, imagine the offers as a starter.
Lazio is hoping his stock will rise to north of 20m as they’ll have financial issues to overcome for 2027.
