The Lega Serie A has revealed the league schedule for the 2026/27 season, pitting Bologna against Lazio on the opening round.
A World Cup Without Lazio

Lazio Fans Anxious About the New Season
For Lazio fans, the worst part is that the upcoming campaign doesn’t promise a major upturn. Gennaro Gattuso has already arrived at Formello to replace Maurizio Sarri, accompanied by a sense of scepticism from the supporters, who have pointed out to the 48-year-old’s modest managerial track record and his recent failure with the Italian national team.
Regardless of the opinion on Gattuso, Lazio’s problems run much deeper than the manager, as their squad simply isn’t competitive enough, even for a Serie A with declining quality.
To make matters worse for the players, they will play their home games at a virtually empty Stadio Olimpico, as the organized fan groups have announced a series of drastic measures in their ongoing protest against club president Claudio Lotito.
And yet, every new season offers a fresh beginning, and the Lazio supporters are at least hoping for a better finish than the 2025/26 campaign, which saw them settle for ninth place.
The Serie A Schedule
The Serie A clubs have now learned the schedule for the 2026/27 season, so Lazio fans can now highlight the most important fixtures of the season.
Gattuso’s men will begin their campaign with an away fixture against Bologna. The Stadio Renato Dall’Ara brought happy memories for the Biancocelesti this season, as Kenneth Taylor’s brace settled the league tie. They also prevailed in the penalty shootouts when the two sides met in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
Lazio’s maiden home fixture will be on the second matchday of the season, when they will host Genoa at the Olimpico. On the fourth round of the season, they will entertain AC Milan, while the seventh matchday entails a tricky trip to Turin, where they will meet Juventus. They will end their campaign in a home fixture against Fiorentina.
As is always the case, the two most important fixtures of Lazio’s campaign are the Derby della Capitale clashes against Roma. The Aquile will host the first edition on Round 15, while the Giallorossi will play hosts on the 32nd matchday.
