Porto head coach Francesco Farioli is keen to buy Lazio full-back Nuno Tavares, but the final decision lies with Andre Villas-Boas.
Lazio Planning to Sell a Left-Back
On Friday, the Biancocelesti confirmed Alfonso Pedraza as their first summer signing. The 30-year-old’s arrival means that the club must sell one of their two other left-backs, namely Tavares and Luca Pellegrini. While the Italian was originally considered the more likely sacrificial lamb, the Portuguese international has been attracting offers.
Porto President Andre Villas-Boas to Decide on Nuno Tavares
Porto have emerged as the 26-year-old’s staunchest admirers, with Farioli urging the management to buy the former Arsenal man. But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, club president Villas-Boas will make the final decision on the matter. For their part, Lazio have set their asking price at €20 million, while Arsenal would collect a 35% sell-on fee.
Why Porto Are The Favorites for Tavares
Previous reports had also revealed interest from Besiktas. But as the source explains, the Turkish giants sensed that Tavares isn’t keen to join them, so they have instead turned to Monaco’s Dango Outtara. On the other hand, Fiorentina remain in the fray, but Lazio would prefer to sell the left-back abroad.
Signing for Porto would see Tavares return to Portugal for the first time since the summer of 2021, when he sealed a transfer to Arsenal. The Lisbon native had represented the Dragao’s two main domestic rivals, Sporting Club and Benfica.

I hope this doesn’t happen. 2 seasons ago, Nuno was nominated for top defender in the Serie A… Last season was brutal for many reasons, but Nuno rediscovered his form in the second half of the season.
I imagine he’ll continue that run of form, which would increase his value for a January transfer. 20m for Nuno is too low
That’s it. Stick with Nuno and Pedraza. Sell Pellegrini, it’s the best solution for everyone.
I agree with both of you
Nuno is an asset, way more than 20mil
If Lazio is going to use a target man he definitely can be an essential link.
Lets say Lazio gets 17.5million after Arsenal’s cut. It also saves like 5million on salary. Getting rid of Tavares and Gigot is a good way to reduce the wage bill. Frees up 10 million in wages. Lazzari and Provedel leaving would be great as well another 8.5m.
Replacing them with players earning maximum 4 million including bonuses. (Taylor sum) Is a good way, replacing them with talents is the way.
Reducing wages, making young players worth more and selling them for profit. While not relegating.
Lazio got further transfer restrictions for not complying with the wage not being less than 70% of income. Reducing the wage bill is essential, keeping a player on a high salary. Just doesn’t make that much sense. Selling Zaccagni is also important.
Sell Zaccagni before Tavares
