Lazio Set for Financial Profit Thanks to ‘Surprising’ Coventry City Transfer

Burnley have reportedly agreed to sell Loum Tchaouna to Coventry City, in an operation that will benefit Lazio.

Loum Tchaouna Struggled at Lazio & Burnley

The Frenchman enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Salernitana in 2023/24, prompting Lazio to splash circa €9 million to secure his services in the summer of 2024. However, the winger endured a forgettable campaign at Formello under Marco Baroni, only contributing with two goals and one assist in 37 appearances.

Despite his underwhelming showings in the Italian capital, Tchaouna still earned a €13 million move to Burnley last summer. But once again, he wasn’t able to deliver on his promise. In his 29 Premier League appearances, he bagged two goals and produced one assist, as the Clarets suffered relegation to the Championship.

Coventry City Will Buy Tchaouna From Burnley

On Friday, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the 22-year-old is set to play in the Premier League for another season, as he will join the newly promoted Coventry City on what has been described as a ‘surprising’ deal. The Sky Blues will spend circa £20 million, satisfying the request of their head coach, Frank Lampard, who personally requested the player’s arrival.

Lazio Will Receive €2.4m from the Tchaouna Sale

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Biancocelesti will be delighted with this transfer, as they had negotiated a 10% sell-on fee when selling Tchaouna to Burnley last summer. Therefore, they are about to collect about £2 million, or roughly €2.4 million.

This figure could be a timely boost for the financially struggling Lazio, who have been restricted to a net-zero transfer market, meaning they can only spend on new signings through funds freshly generated from departures.

    15 mil Gila(could be more but depends how that 50% clause works, because maybe what we payed 1st, the 6 mil to Madrid might count in)

    Lazzari, Pellegrini are 2 names that will leave 100%
    Pedro, Hysai and Basic are all gone and more importantly, off the books and together the 3 earned I think over 5mil/year. Luca on 1.5mil, Hysai similar and Basic was the same or more, Pedro likely more, close to 3mil so it’s actually a cut of more than 6mil in wages.
    If you also take out Gula, Provedel and Romagnoli you saved another 4-5mil in wages/year.

    So at least 35mil in profit from the sales and over 10-10.5 mil saved in wages (which a lot will indeed be used for the arrived players, like Pedraza for now).

    1. We need to get rid of Dia, Cancellieri as well. I don’t mind if Belahyane stays and we will see what Gattuso can make of him, plus we surely don’t get more than 1 new midfielder so keep him alonsode Rovella, Taylor, Pzyborek and that said new arrival.

      Noslin Provstgaars and Nuno stay , Marysic no way leaves sadly with his new contract so minimum 1 but possibly 2 defenders

      Last but not least we got Ratkov, Zaccagoni and Gustav so we clearly need someone who can play on the right and possibly a LW for Zaccagni depending on Noslin staying or not and if Noslin stays rather get someone more competent than Rathov to AT LEAST battle

      Two or minimum one competent CB
      Minimum 1 midfielder
      1RW and ST

      This would loom like an acceptable transfer market to me.

      To make it aatisfying, i would add someone better than Marusic on the RB
