Lazio have secured an agreement with free agent Danilho Doekhi, who will bolster Gennaro Gattuso’s backline.

Lazio Sold Gila & Romagnoli

The Italian capital side lost its two most valuable centre-backs, as Mario Gila signed for AC Milan, while Alessio Romagnoli has already confirmed his departure ahead of his transfer to Al-Sadd. Hence, Lazio need to buy at least one new defender.

Lazio Seeking New Defenders

The Biancocelesti have been linked with several profiles over the past few weeks, especially Sergi Dominguez, Diego Coppola (who instead rejoined Paris FC), and Pietro Comuzzo. But out of the blue, the club launched an onslaught for Doekhi, who landed in Rome on Monday to finalise his agreement with the club.

Done Deal: Danilho Doekhi Will Sign for Lazio

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Doekhi and Lazio have reached a full agreement on personal terms and will soon put pen to paper. As the source explains, the two parties were able to iron out the remaining details in Monday’s meeting.

Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano also stamped the agreement with his signature ‘here we go’, revealing that the 28-year-old will undergo his medical on Monday evening before signing his Lazio contract.

Doekhi: Career Path & Attacking Stats

Doekhi was born and raised in Rotterdam and had experiences at Ajax’s academy and Vitesse before signing for Union Berlin in 2022. Interestingly, the Dutchman isn’t only known for his defensive prowess, but he also made important contributions at the opposite end of the pitch, scoring 16 goals in 137 appearances.
