Lazio’s pre-season only started on Monday, but Gennaro Gattuso and his staff are already worried about the conditions of Patric and Reda Belahyane.
Patric Has Been Absent From Lazio Pre-Season
The new technical staff was aware that Gustav Isaksen and Danilo Cataldi weren’t going to take part in the camp at Formello, as they’re still recovering from groin surgeries. But according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Patric has yet to show up after two days and four training sessions, despite being listed.
The Spaniard’s absence left Gattuso with an increasingly depleted centre-back department following the departure of Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli. But the good news is that Dutch defender Danilho Doekhi took part in the afternoon training session after signing for the club on a free transfer earlier in the day.
Lazio Release Patric Update
The Biancocelesti have now released a statement on the club’s official website, explaining that Patric has been given a few days of rest as he undergoes treatment. His condition will be reassessed afterwards.

Reda Belahyane Suffers Ankle Issue in Lazio Training
On Tuesday, Belahyane complained of a sore right ankle at the start of the afternoon training session, and was immediately sent packing. The young midfielder should undergo clinical tests in the morning to reveal the extent of his injury.
Will Belahyane Bounce Back Under Gattuso?
The Moroccan has been at Lazio since February 2025, when he made the move from Hellas Verona, but has been reduced to an almost forgotten figure at the club due to his scarce number of appearances under Marco Baroni and Maurizio Sarri.
The 22-year-old will be determined to open a more successful chapter with Gattuso now in charge, but the last thing he needed was a knock on the second day of pre-season.
In addition to Doekhi, one more central defender is needed. One cannot rely at all on the fitness of Patric and Gigot.

Dominguez deal seems to me almost impossible. Zagreb wants 15m. While Comuzzo on loan from Fiorentina would be more atractive.
Anyway there is room on the team with Hysai and Pellegrinj likely on the out and maybe Dia.
