Lazio have reportedly made concrete steps in their attempts to sign Santiago Gimenez, who could be on his way out of AC Milan.

The Biancocelesti are determined to bolster their attacking ranks with a new centre-forward capable of guaranteeing goals. In recent weeks, they have linked with a plethora of candidates, especially Fluminense’s John Kennedy, Sassuolo’s Andrea Pinamonti, Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli, and Levante’s Carlos Espi.
Nevertheless, sources had long identified Gimenez as the club’s dream target. Earlier this week, it was reported that Lazio have rekindled their interest in the Mexican international.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Italian capital side made initial contact with Rafaela Pimenta, the famous Brazilian lawyer who represents Gimenez. Okay one of the last time I’m going to respond to these individual articles, hope that at same point most of you are capable of verifying if something is remotely possible or not.
1. Check his current salary (for example capology)
2. Check his current transfer worth (for example transfermarkt)
– Gimenez earns about the same as Romagnoli around 6million a year (way too much for Lazio
– transfer value 18 million
So lets say somehow Lazio would offer 2.5 million straight to loan with an option to buy for 16 million. Lazio would still need to pay a salary which would make him the highest player at Lazio.
This page is full with rumours. A team that isn’t realistically going to qualify for Europa league with Lazio’s current financial issues. You really think would invest this money?
I urge you to get a grip on the financial reality of Lazio. The club is searching everywhere for bargains and many will go to other clubs, because negotiations will take too long and players+ player managers will feel low balled by Lazio. It’s a club that has been led poorly and now is paying dearly for it’s mismanagement.
Getting financial more stable while getting talents to develop, to be sold. Is the way, talking about the past. About Ciro, the scudetto, europa and such things. It’s great but it’s devoid of any reality. Lazio needs to remain in serie a until the stadium or a new owner has come in. Lazio will go into a new dark age like after the collapse of Cragnotti. Better accept it and hope that better times are waiting somewhere in a relative soon future.

Desperate for news? Not at all. There are so many unrealistic stories circulating in the media, but we try to pick up the most relevant, while prioritising the most reliable sources.
As for Gimenez, I don’t consider it an impossible deal by any means, but it depends on Milan’s willingness to accept a temporary formula, and it might require a small financial sacrifice from the player. He reportedly earns around 2.5m per year, which isn’t an astronomical figure, but perhaps one that Lazio will struggle to match.

I agree that his salary is relatively high compared with the players Lotito signed in the last two seasons. But again, several Italian sources have been covering this story, including (somewhat) reliable newspapers.
Personally, I think it could be long shot, and the club will likely end up signing an unsung striker who arrives at Formello out of the blue, similar to the Provstgaard and Markmann operations, but you never know…
Doesn’t help that Dia is hard to sell and now the issues with Romagnoli. Having a striker at the front that scores lets say 10+ goals would be great, especially considering last season. Last season having Isaksen, Pedro and Noslin being top goalscorers with 5 goals. Was absolutely terrible. Dia is also not remotely up for the job.
Ratkov and another young striker, I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all.
In the end though, avoiding relegation is the most important objective next to financially getting more healthy.
As good as Gimenez is as a player, because he definitely is. Getting the wages down is the way to lift the transfer limitations. The Mexican isn’t in my opinion a target that fits very well with that goal.
Lazio sitting on a near estimated fixed gross of 60million with an estimated gross total spending of nearly 80 million. That’s a lot, a lot of wage on for a squad with an estimated worth of 200m. In comparison with slightly less spending Fiorentina squad has an estimated worth well over 110m more. Bologna is spending 30million a year gross total estimated less and has a estimated worth that’s 25% higher.
It’s insane how Lotito tried to convince the world how the financial situation wasn’t dire and it was somehow exaggerated. Many clubs in Serie A should’ve been declared bankrupt in the past, many of the top teams. Without a doubt, but the mismanagement at Lazio is tragic as well.
It’s not an impossible deal at all: a €2.5m loan with a €16m purchase option. Lazio paid more for Rovella. Even though his salary is high, the contract runs until 2029 and could easily be extended by a couple of years, which would drastically lower the annual wage. But first, they need to sell Dia or Ratkov—or both.
And we just paid almost €12m for Dia so…
