Lazio and Fiorentina are reportedly discussing deals for three players, including Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares.

The Background

In addition to a new centre-forward and a defender, the Biancocelesti are searching the market for a midfielder, ideally one capable of playing behind the striker. After missing out on Jonathan Asp Jensen, who joined Deportivo La Coruña, Lazio have apparently turned to domestic solutions.

Lazio Planning to Sign One of Two Fiorentina Midfielders

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Aquile have opened talks with Fiorentina for Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian, with both players considered available on the market. Lazio aims to sign only one, preferably on an initial loan deal.

Marco Brescianini Lands on Lazio Shortlist

Brescianini is an AC Milan youth product who enjoyed his big breakthrough at Frosinone in the 2023/24 campaign, which earned him a move to Atalanta in the summer of 2024. But after struggling for playing time in Bergamo, he moved to Florence on loan in January 2026, before sealing a €10 million permanent transfer in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old is a hardworking player who can fill various roles in the middle of the park, including a box-to-box midfielder and an attacking midfielder.

Lazio Rekindle Old Interest in Giovanni Fabbian

Fabbian is a creative attacking midfielder who began his career at Inter Milan. In 2022/23, he showed great promise during his loan stint at Reggina in Serie B, so Bologna decided to bet on his services. Like Brescianini, the 23-year-old signed for Fiorentina on loan in January, but found limited space. He recently completed a permanent move, but he might not dwell too long at the Artemio Franchi.

Fiorentina Interested in Nuno Tavares

In addition to the two Fiorentina midfielders, Pedulla reveals that the discussion extended to Tavares, who has been on the Viola’s watchlist since the start of the summer. But at this stage, the Portuguese full-back is expected to remain at Formello, despite the arrival of Alfonso Pedraza. Therefore, Luca Pellegrini is the more likely candidate to make way, at least based on the status quo.

  1. It’s about time Lazio starts looking at Italians to play for them. This is the main reason that Italy did not make it to the last 3 world cups-no development of young Italian players and as a result teaching all the foreigners the Italian style.
