Over the weekend, Cancellieri resisted a proposal from Genoa, while Parma (who hosted him on loan during the 2024/25 season) also enquired on Monday. Moreover, several reliable sources reported on Monday evening that the Lazio winger could join Fiorentina in exchange for Albert Gudmundsson. However, this swap deal is unlikely to take shape.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio have decided to reject Parma and Fiorentina’s offers for Cancellieri, as they have now decided to keep the player at Formello. This development follows previous reports which indicated Gennaro Gattuso’s desire to keep the player, mainly for technical reasons.
Why Lazio Are Keeping Cancellieri
The head coach was seemingly unconvinced by the potential replacements. The shortlist included Isak Bjerkebo, Montader Madjed, and Dennis Man. Moreover, Gudmundsson was deemed ill-suited for the role, as he primarily plays as a second striker or an attacking midfielder, so he wouldn’t fit into Gattuso’s current 4-3-3 system.

Bc he fucking he works his ass off. At least he’s shooting. The entire team always looks for the perfect play sometimes just shoot the ball. Smartest choice they have done all season is not moving him
We should have taken Dennis Man, he is very similar to Orsolini but younger and obviously less prolific. But he always played in mid to relegation teams so with us this season he woukd have the chance of his life. Technically he is actually maybe starter quality but he needs to earn his role with Gattuso. Ah… we miss out on a good one.
But than I can also say that Cancellieri is maybe better and he played ok recently he just needs to score . That spark going through the whole pitch was impressive. Similar to Nuno hahhaa
The problem is his decision making hasn’t seemed to improve from last seaon to now. He is quick on counters, but not quick enough to beat defenders consistently which means he needs to make good passes to others on the break, which he can’t seem to do.
