Lazio midfielder Davide Frattesi is in the running for the Serie A Player of the Month alongside other stars who thrived in September.
Davide Frattesi on Six-Man Shortlist for September Player of the Month
The 27-year-old returned to his original club in the summer, completing a loan with an option to buy from Inter Milan. The midfielder went off to a flying start, finding the back of the net in the first three Serie A matchdays. The Italian’s exploits have played a fundamental role in Lazio’s league standing, as they share the top spot with Roma and Inter Milan.
Donyell Malen
Speaking of the Giallorossi and the Nerazzurri, they each have a nominee on the six-man shortlist released by the Lega Serie A. Roma striker Donyell Malen picked up where he left off last season, bagging six goals in five league fixtures.
Lautaro Martinez
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez isn’t too far behind, having scored four goals in as many Serie A fixtures this season. His first brace earned the defending Italian champions a shocking come-from-behind win over Napoli, while his second rescued a point in the top-of-the-table showdown against Roma last weekend.

Adrien Rabiot
Despite the departure of his old mentor Massimiliano Allegri, Adrien Rabiot remains a protagonist for AC Milan under Ruben Amorim. The French midfielder has thus been nominated for the Player of the Month award after scoring a couple of goals.
Daniel Maldini
During the second half of the previous campaign, Daniel Maldini struggled to make an impact at Lazio while leading the line for Maurizio Sarri. However, the 24-year-old has found his best form again in Cagliari, with Fabio Pisacane deploying him in his natural role as a second striker. The third-generation player has already scored three vital goals this season, earning a call-up to Roberto Mancini’s Italy.
Giorgi Kvernadze
Finally, the high-flying Frosinone also have a representative on the list. While Italian striker Antonio Raimondo has been making the headlines, his Georgian teammate, Giorgi Kvernadze, got the nod. The 23-year-old winger has already contributed with three goals and one assist.

So the problem was not Maldini but sarri
