Inter striker Joaquin Correa remembered his fond time in Rome and was happy with his decision to leave Lazio.
Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 27-year-old Argentinian forward first discussed his experiences in the Italian capital and his move to the Nerazzurri.
I had a great time in Rome and everyone treated me great.
I was there for three seasons, we won two trophies, got into the Champions League after 20 years and won 12 home games in a row, setting a club record.
The experience at Lazio is one I remember with great affection, but the time had come when I wanted to leave. It was right.
Correa then discussed his relationship with Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, who also left Lazio earlier this year.
Inzaghi’s was a very important boost. He’s a great coach, someone who makes you feel good.
Correa joined Lazio in the summer of 2018 from Sevilla in a deal worth around €18 million. During his three years with the club, he made 117 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 7766 minutes.
The Argentinian forward scored 30 goals and provided 18 assists in those 117 games, with his most decisive goals coming in the Biancocelesti’s Coppa Italia victory in the 2018/19 season, where he scored in both the semi-final against AC Milan and the final against Atalanta.
