Lazio Defender Luiz Felipe Handed One-Match Suspension & €5,000 Fine

Lazio defender Luiz Felipe has received a €5,000 fine and one-match suspension following his red card against Inter.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero yesterday, the 24-year-old Brazilian defender has been fined and suspended for one match after receiving a red card for hugging Nerazzurri striker Joaquin Correa from behind following the full-time whistle in Sunday’s match.

Lazio won the match 3-1 and Luiz Felipe went over to celebrate with his friend and former teammate, but the Inter striker wasn’t impressed and understandably shook him off. This caused a small commotion between the two sides and left Luiz Felipe in tears.

This means that Luiz Felipe will not be able to play in the upcoming league match against Hellas Verona on the weekend, although he will be available to feature against Fiorentina next week.

The sending-off was the 24-year-old Brazilian defender’s first red card ever in his career, making it an extra bitter pill to swallow.
