The FIGC has announced that controlling interests in more than one professional club will no longer be allowed, although this doesn’t affect Lazio president Claudio Lotito.
According to a report from Tifosy on Twitter yesterday, the Italian football federation’s board approved changes to the regulations regarding multi-club ownership in Italy, stopping owners being able to have a controlling share of multiple professional clubs.

This law does not apply retroactively, and so does not affect president Lotito, who owns a controlling share in both Serie A side Lazio and Serie B side Salernitana.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis also owns a controlling share in a second professional club, Serie C side Bari.
Lotito may not be the owner of Salernitana for much longer, however. Should the Campania based side achieve promotion to Serie A this season, then the Italian businessman will be forced to sell his share as owning two professional clubs in the same league is prohibited.
