Inter have decided to pull the trigger on a last minute move for Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi.
Gianluca Di Marzio details how Nerazzurri president Steven Zhang initially put a stop to the talks, unconvinced about the idea of signing the 35-year-old Italian centre back, but he’s been won over and now a deal is being completed.
Inter and Lazio and finalised all the details and the documents confirming the transfer of Acerbi are being exchanged. The veteran defender will join the club on a loan deal with a buy option attached. The permanence clause is understood to be set at around €4 million.
Acerbi spent four years with Lazio, joining from Sassuolo in 2018 in a deal worth €12 million. During his time at the club, the centre back made 173 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. He picked up 25 yellow cards, two second yellow cards and one straight red card.
