Federico Pastorello, the agent of defender Francesco Acerbi, discussed his client’s move from Lazio to Inter and what could happen next.

The 34-year-old Italian centre back left the Biancocelesti after four years on loan in the summer following an incredibly difficult campaign in Rome, where he lost the backing of the fans after poor on-pitch performances and disappointing responses off it.

With the loan not having any obligations attached, Acerbi could realistically return to Lazio in the summer.

Speaking to TMW (via LazioNews24), Pastorello discussed the details of the deal that took Acerbi from Lazio to Inter and what the coming year could hold for his client.

In Acerbi’s contract there is a buy option that was basically set without being negotiated. That’s why we had some discussions with Lotito, because in my opinion it would have been better to put a buy option more in line with the player’s value, because if Acerbi was 25 years old he would be worth €50 million today.

Being at the age of 35, it is difficult to think that Inter, also considering the company situation they have been experiencing for years, could invest €4 million to buy him. I expect that common sense will prevail.

Considering that Romagnoli is doing very well and Acerbi’s characteristics fit less well with Sarri’s philosophy. On the other hand, Francesco is doing well at Inter and is very happy with Inzaghi and is very well integrated into the locker room.

With all these premises, I believe that at the end of the year we will have to sit down to find the squaring of the circle. We will find a solution should Inter want to buy the defender.

The 34-year-old Acerbi has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Inter this season, for a total of 948 minutes. He has a strong relationship with Inzaghi and is seemingly enjoying his football more than he did in the Italian capital last season.

During his four years with Lazio, the Italian centre back made 173 appearances in total, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.
