The Region of Lazio has officially announced that starting from May 6, 2020, athletes in the Italian region competing in team sports will be able to resume individual training in their respective sports centers. This means that after nearly two months sidelined due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, both Roma and Lazio will be able to resume training. Kept behind closed doors and in compliance with the rules of social distancing, below is the complete statement from the Italian Government.
“With reference to sports, the following activities will be allowed starting from May 6, 2020:
– The individual training of professional and non-professional athletes recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), by the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) and by their respective federations, in compliance with the rules of social distancing and with closed-door procedures;
– Motor and sports activities outdoors in an individual form (or with one companion for minors or people who are not completely self-sufficient) respecting the social distancing measures of at least two meters for sports and at least one meter for any other activity. For the aforementioned activities, individual travel is allowed only in the provincial context. Exclusively for the amateur form of sport fishing (from land or at sea), travel within the entire region is authorized;
– By May 5, 2020, the managing bodies of the sports facilities (that are being allowed to be used once again), must promise to carry out the security measures to allow the aforementioned activities to occur under the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of April 26, 2020, and this ordinance;
The activities indicated in this ordinance must, in any case, be carried out in compliance with all the provisions and provisions aimed at containing the contagion envisaged by the previous and current national and regional provisions,
with particular regard to the contents of the ‘Shared Protocol for the regulation of measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the workplace’ signed on March 14, 2020, between the Government and its social partners.The aforementioned resumption of training could be anticipated as early as Monday, May 4, 2020 with a possible go-ahead from the Government.”
