Report: Lazio Showing Early Interest in Manchester City Defender Zinchenko

Lazio is currently in the market for a left wide player and is showing an early interest in Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, as noted by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The report makes note of Lazio president Claudio Lotito’s disappointment with the team’s recent performances. Thus, he is aiming to reinforce the team with key depth additions over the winter transfer window, and this would include prioritizing a left wide player.

For both Lotito and sporting director Igil Tare, they are both showing a preliminary interest in a possible transfer deal for the Zinchenko.

However, Lazio may have difficultly with this possible transfer deal as the Ukrainian talent is valued at €20 million. Coupled with his €2 million a year deal, the report adds that both the potential fee and the player’s yearly salary could pose an issue for the club.

At the moment, there have been no contacts made from Lazio to Manchester City about possibly jumpstarting transfer talks for the left-back.

Zinchenko has fallen out of favor with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. After totaling for 19 appearances in Premier League play last season, he has only mounted for a mere two games played in England’s top-flight so far over the ongoing campaign.

Zinchenko is slated to have three more years left on his contract following this season.
