How They Got There

Juventus kicked off their Coppa Italia campaign with an easy 6-1 home win over Salernitana in the Round of 16. The Old Lady were just as comfortable in the Quarter-Finals as well, thumping Frosinone 4-0.

Lazio’s campaign opened with a narrow 1-0 home success over Genoa. They were then pitched into a big Quarter-Final clash with city rivals Roma. Lazio took another 1-0 win to progress to the Semi-Finals.

Coppa Italia History

Juventus are the all-time leaders in Coppa Italia history with 14 titles. They are the only team to have reached double figures, with their latest crown being won in 2021.

Lazio have seven Coppa Italia titles to their name, and five of those have been since the turn of the century. The most recent success was in 2019 when they defeated Atalanta in the Final.

Expected Starting Lineups

Dušan Vlahovic has been strong in front of goal for Juve this season and is the standout name in terms of goalscorer prospects for markets like Anytime or First Goalscorer. Lazio lacks the same kind of prolific output up front, with Ciro Immobile their top league scorer with just six goals scored through the end of February.

Juventus defender Gleison Bremer Silva Nascimento has been a rock all season and is part of the reason why the Bianconeri have one of the best defence records in Serie A. Wojciech Szczesny is also a very safe pair of hands between the sticks for them.

Away from home in the first leg, Lazio need big defensive performances more than anything. They have to find a way to stay in the tie and have something to play for back at home. Big games from Alessio Romagnoli and Manuel Lazzari will help Lazio to that end. Finding a way to get Ciro Immobile into the game will be crucial, and that may come from the support of Felipe Anderson and/or Luis Alberto.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Mario Gila, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Guendouzi, Vecino, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.

Juventus (3-5-2): Szczesny, Gatti, Bremer, Rugani, Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic, Vlahovic, Chiesa.

Head to Head

Last season the two clubs met in the Coppa Italia, with Juventus claiming a 1-0 home win in the Quarter-Finals. Of the last 41 matches between Lazio and Juventus, it is the Old Lady out front with a W28-D7-L6 record.

Earlier this season Lazio slipped to a 3-1 away loss in Turin, but what will give them hope in this tie, is that they won last season’s home league match against Juventus. But that 2-1 success is Lazio’s only win over Juventus in the last ten meetings in all competitions.

Both teams have scored in 8 of the last 11 meetings in all competitions, which is another good trend to keep in mind for betting options.

2023/24 Seasons So Far

After 26 rounds of Serie A action, Juventus were 17 points ahead of Lazio. They had conceded an average of 0.73 goals per game, in contrast to Lazio shipping an average of 1.08 goals per game.

The goal-scoring threat of Juventus was that much better as well, with an average of 1.58 goals per game, and Lazio back on 1.23.

Lazio will have to complete their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich before the first leg too. The Serie A club came up big with a 1-0 home win in the first leg of that. If they get past Bayern, they will also have Quarter-Final matches in the Champions League in between the Coppa Italia ties, making for a very busy month.

Juventus were a strong Serie A title contender through mid-January. But then they hit some struggles with a run of no wins in four league matches. They do have the benefit though of not being involved in European action this season, however, so will likely be the fresher of the two sides for this Coppa Italia Semi-Final.
