Mauri played many derby games in his time with Lazio, featuring 14 times in Serie A. Out of these, he won 6 times, lost 6 times and drew 2. He scored 3 times and provided 2 assists. However, there is no doubt that his favorite memory of the derby is the 2013 Coppa Italia Final, where Lazio beat Roma 1-0 to win the Cup.
“I’ll be at the stadium on Sunday, Its a special game at a positive time for the 2 clubs. The Giallorossi have done a historic task against Barcelona, while the Biancocelesti have good chances to reach the semi-finals.”
Mauri was asked about his best goal in the Biancocelesti jersey and he answered “It was the goal against Napoli if course, Many people asked me how I had done it, it is simply instinct. I was lucky to hit the ball well, even today I still go back and watch the video many times and in the Biancocelesti dressing room there is still a poster of it.“
