Lazio Storm to Thrilling 3-1 Win Over Inzaghi’s Inter

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio rose to the occasion against Simone Inzaghi’s Inter last night, securing an exciting 3-1 win in front of a packed Stadio Olimpico.

The Biancocelesti knew that a solid response was needed after their frustrating 0-0 draw with Torino last week and they certainly didn’t disappoint in front of their adoring fans, putting on a dominating display against the Scudetto hungry Nerazzurri.

The first half was a tense back and forth affair, with both teams pushing to try and take an early lead. After numerous attempts, it was the home side who came out on top after 40 minutes as Felipe Anderson’s header beat Samir Handanovic to put Lazio 1-0 up.

Only minutes later, Denzel Dumfries fell in the Biancocelesti penalty area and it looked as if Inter would be awarded a spot kick, but after a VAR check nothing was given, frustrating Inzaghi’s side.

Lazio carried over their momentum to the second half and almost doubled their lead straight after the break, but then Lautaro Martinez managed to turn things around in the 51st minute, finding an equaliser after the Biancocelesti dropped focus.

Things got significantly more tense after this, and after a round of changes Lazio finally managed to take the advantage again thanks to Luis Alberto, whose stunning long shot comfortably nestled into the top corner, putting the home side 2-1 up.

Inter tried to push for another equaliser but Lazio remained solid and in the final few minutes of the match Pedro secured the victory with a beautiful curling shot, sending the Stadio Olimpico wild.

It was an exciting and motivating win for the Roman club, who’ll now be looking to maintain this momentum across the season as they fight for a top four finish.
